Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:
- Architecting and managing a large-scale (thousands of machines, petabytes of data) research and development environment critical for trading strategy development
- Developing a deep understanding of user workloads, document and evangelize best practices, determine policies and place controls over shared resources
- Tracking overall KPIs and statistics on performance and collaborate with quants, systems engineers, and storage engineers to drive improvements
- Determining future hardware and software purchases, research relevant new technologies
- Utilizing public clouds to expand and enhance research offerings
- Leading a team of HPC engineers
- Promote and assist with migrations to new technologies to promote scalability and automation
- Lead effort in researching, recommending, implementing, and maintaining new technologies, application software (including applications and operating systems), and hardware
- Configure, deploy, update and fix Linux-based servers for hardware and software failures
- Monitor the health of servers, including performing backup restores, software installations, and upgrades
Key Requirements:
- Exceptional Strong client-facing communication skills and team management skills
- Experience/ability to select/drive all aspects of HPC: from underlying hardware, operating system software and configuration, network and storage integration, scheduler software, and observability/monitoring tools.
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS configuration, optimization, and installation of modules/drivers, linux kernel modification
- Server BIOS configuration and optimization
- At least 10 years of experience in working in large-scale HPC environments
- Must be proficient in scripting languages such as bash, python, perl, etc.
- Prior experience working with containerization tools such as OpenShift and Docker is a plus
- Strong knowledge of WAN, LAN and datacenter network architectures
- Setting up, maintaining, replicating, and backing up databases as well as familiarity with NoSQL, MySql, Postgres
- Hands-on knowledge of Unix or Linux and systems administration skills
- Experience with managing HPC workloads on public clouds
